Reports have emerged that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) I all set to hold investigations against Pakistan cricketers Umar Akmal and Mohammad Sami to find out if the duo was involved in the alleged spot fixing scandal during the Pakistan Super League as a particular bookmaker took their names several times.

Reports from Jang Newspaper emerged that Umar Akmal and Mohammad Sami’s name were frequently taken during the hearing into the PCB’s charge sheet against Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif who was suspended for their alleged involvement in spot fixing scandal during the PSL.The hearings were recorded by the operations officer at the UK National Crime Agency.

Sources close to PCB revealed that they couldn’t send any notice to the duo as there was no conclusive evidence found against them which proved that they had violated PCB’s anti-corruption code.

“Their names were mentioned in the testimony and it was revealed by the NCA official that the bookmaker Mohammad Yousuf took their names several times,” one source revealed.

Both Akmal and Sami have been in and out of the national side during the course of their career and if proved guilty it might well be the end of their career but given Pakistan has the tendency to bring back tainted players it remains to be seen how their future shapes up in the upcoming few days.

The duo of Sharjeel Khan and Khalif Latif were charged with violating several clauses of PCB’ anti-corruption code including meeting the bookmakers and giving a green signal for fixing matches in the PSL. This is not the first time that a Pakistan cricketer’s name has sprung up in the match fixing scandal.

In 2010, the trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir was handed imprisonment after Amir and Asif bowled a couple of deliberate no balls in return of hefty sums from a book maker and though it was Amir and Asif who committed the sinful act, it was Butt who was the mastermind behind this plan.

Though Amir has made a successful return to international cricket, it will be almost impossible for Asif and Butt to force their way into the national team given again. Amir performed brilliantly in the final of Champions Trophy against India and was instrumental in handing Pakistan a memorable victory.
