England’s performance has taken a U-turn since the test series. England dominated over India in the test series and even won the series 3-1. But they are now in serious troubles in the ODI series by losing two of the three matches with the other being washed out. So, England does not possess any real chances to win the ODI series anymore with two games to follow.

In spite of the losses, England coach, Peter Moores is pretty much optimistic about the ODI series and he believes that his side can still square the series. He admitted of the fact that his team did not play well at all in the series so far but they are hopeful for win in the fourth ODI.

He said that they have identified the areas where they were going wrong and they will try to rectify them from the next game and he is pretty much confident for a win. England’s middle order batsmen were thoroughly scrutinized after they showed up with poor performances on both the ODIs despite their openers gave them good starts. Moores claimed that they have good players of spin in the likes of Bell, Cook and Morgan but they did not manage to deliver in the previous encounters.

These two losses made the England squad vulnerable to many criticism by the former cricketers and they are in no means preparing for the ICC World Cup, 2015. Even some questioned about Cook’s captaincy and many of the former cricketers want Cook to step aside from the captaincy. But Moores is unmoved by such views and he said that it is obvious that everyone has a viewpoint of his own.

He added that it is too early to criticize about the squad as this same squad brought glory a week back in the test series. He feels that things have went wrong somewhere and they will surely look to improve on them in the next matches.

He also said that he believes in the captaincy of Cook and he stated that Cook will lead England in the World Cup in the next year as he is the perfect man for the job at the moment. And England does not possess any alternative to Cook.

Moores also explained that the team’s primary goals are to level the series and at the sometime prepare for the World Cup next year as they are playing against the Number 1 ODI team.

But really it is a fact that England has gone all wrong with strategy and things like Moeen Ali’s exclusion from the playing XI, Steve Finn’s exclusion in the second ODI and playing with as many as 4 all-rounders have come to limelight and it is to be seen whether they are able to make a comeback soon.
