A Chris Gayle thunderstorm blew away England attack at Mumbai last night. West Indies winning the toss elected to field first at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai. England posted a total of 183, which is a formidable score in T20. But, if you have Chris Gayle in your rank, any score in T20 will not look formidable. 35-year-old Gayle hammered English bowlers in his 47 balls hundred that helped West Indies to win the match by six wickets.
Earlier England batting first scored 183 at Wankhede with the help of Joe Root’s 48 and Jose Buttler’s 30. But, West Indies batting attack is no match for them.
Here are the players ratings of West Indies players:
Jerome Taylor: The fast bowler in his three overs has gone bit expensive as he conceded 30 runs and has gone wicketless.
Samuel Badree: The spinner bowled four overs and conceded 34 runs, but like Jerome Taylor he also has gone wicketless.
Andre Russell: The all-rounder gave West Indies the first breakthrough as he sent back Jason Roy. He also took the wicket of Joe Root. He also played 16 balls 16 runs innings. He played a role of a complete allrounder.
DJ Bravo: He has gone very expensive as he has to face Ben Stokes and Eion Morgan in the death overs. However, he has taken one wicket and conceded 41 runs. His contribution with the bat in nothing.
Sulieman Benn: The lanky spinner bowled three overs and conceded 23 runs and took one wicket.
Carlos Braithwaite: The all-rounder bowled only two overs and conceded 16 runs. And he didn’t have to bat as West Indies have won the match by 6 wickets.
Johnson Charles: The opener’s contribution to The West indies’ chase is big zero as he was caught by Moeen Ali and bowled by David Willy.
Chris Gayle: He smashed 47 balls hundred, the first in 2016 World T20. He smashed 11 sixes and five boundaries. His entertained the fans at Wankhede stadium. Gayle’s innings made all the difference in the match as English bowlers were looking hapless.
