The 8th match of IPL 2016 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Both the teams lost their previous matches and so the match provided an opportunity for either of the teams to get back on winning track. While SRH failed to capitalise on the home advantage, KKR grabbed the opportunity with both hands and defeated SRH by 8 wickets.
1. Gautam Gambhir : 4.5/5
The KKR skipper continued his fine run with the bat and scored his second fifty on the trot. He is now the leading run scorer of the tournament.
2. Robin Uthappa: 4/5
Looked in sublime touch and along with Gambhir, he took KKR to a comfortable position.
3. Andre Russell: 3/5
Promoted up in the batting order but was dismissed by a beautiful delivery. Did his part in the bowling department with a tight bowling display.
4. Manish Pandey : 2/5
Came in to bat when the team was well on course for victory. Gave good support to in-form batsman Gambhir.
5. Shakib Al Hasan: 3/5
Gave away just 18 runs in his 3 overs and totally justified his inclusion in the team.
6. Yusuf Pathan: 0/5
Did not get the chance in the match to do anything.
7. Suryakumar Yadav : 0/5
Did not get the chance to bat.
8. Piyush Chawla : 1/5
Bowled only one over and a costly one.
9. Sunil Narine : 2.5/5
His bowling did not look that sharp but still managed to maintain a good economy rate.
10. Morne Morkel: 3/5
Took the important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan to set the tone for KKR but was quite expensive in the end.
11. Umesh Yadav: 3.5/5
Pick of the bowler of KKR. He took 3 wickets and maintained a good economy rate.
