2015/16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (India’s Domestic T-20 tournament) is now coming to close as Baroda and Uttar Pradesh are meeting in the final match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday evening.

Uttar Pradesh is in great form in this tournament as they have won all their matches in the tournament. On the other hand, Baroda is in very good form though as they enter in the final in dramatic fashion. However, Baroda only lost two matches (1 each in the group stage and super league) and they are looking in a good touch in this tournament.

It will be the battle between two of India’s struggling cricketers where Irfan Pathan will be leading Baroda and Suresh Raina will be leading Uttar Pradesh. Both are focusing for a spot in the Indian cricket squad.

Irfan Pathan suffered due to lack of fitness for a long time. Last time he played for India was more than 3 years ago. In this tournament, he is one of the most in-form player both bat and ball. The 31-years old all-rounder has already scored 190 runs with his bat and picked up 16 wickets with his bowling. He is currently the leading wicket-taker in this tournament. His performance is giving a hope to the Indian team for an experience pace-allrounder.

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh skipper Suresh Raina will look to find his form. He has scored 111 runs in the 5 matches but failed to get a big score. He also picked 2 wickets in this tournament. Unlike Irfan, he is one of the current regular player in the Indian limited-overs team. But due to poor and struggling form, he was omitted from the ODI squad in the recent Australia tour, though he is in the T20I squad.

Focusing on the other players, recently called up in the Indian T20I squad for the Australia tour, Baroda all-rounder Hardik Pandya is continue showing his tremendous from in this tournament as he is currently the highest scorer in this tournament. He has scored 364 runs in the 9 matches with 3 fifties. Also, he picked up 9 wickets with his medium-fast bowling. He is the biggest contender of Irfan Pathan for the national squad where Hardik is currently ahead in that race.

On the other hand, leg-spinner Piyush Chawla is in very good form in this tournament for Uttar Pradesh as he is the second highest wicket-taker in this tournament (15 wickets). Another leg-spinner Amit Mishra picked up 9 wickets in this tournament. In the batting line-up, Prashant Gupta (268 runs in 8 matches) and Eklavya Dwivedi (258 runs in 8 matches) are in very good form.

Fasten your seat belts as the final match of the tournament is looking very exciting.
