Today’s first match will see Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Delhi Daredevils at Bangalore from 4.00 PM onwards.
Royal Challengers are one step away from entering the playoffs as they won their previous match in a rain curtailed match against Hyderabad whereas Delhi Daredevils would like to end the season on a winning note. The last time they met in this year’s tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils easily.
Previous Clash –
The first time they met in this year’s tournament was on 26th April in Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field. Delhi Daredevils got off to bad start losing Shreyas Iyer in the first over itself. After that Duminy and Agarwal did put a 35 runs second wicket stand but lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for a paltry total of 95. The top scorer for Delhi was Jadhav scoring 33 runs. Chasing the total of 95, Bangalore’s innings got off to great start as Gayle scored 62 and Kohli scored 35 runs to help Royal Challengers Bangalore win the match. RCB won the match by 10 wickets with 57 balls to spare.
In the previous match against Sunrisers, he played a captains knock chasing 81 in 6 overs. When the situation was getting tough, Kohli ensured that Bangalore would win the match and stay alive in the tournament for the playoffs. Against Delhi Daredevils he must lead from the front and just play his natural game to ensure that Bangalore can qualify for the playoffs.
Mitchell Starc has been the leading wicket-taker for Royal Challengers Bangalore in this tournament. In the previous match against Sunrisers when other bowlers were going for runs Mitchell Starc did a great job giving away 26 runs and picking 1 wicket also. Against Delhi Daredevils he needs to pick early wickets to put pressure on the Delhi Daredevils batting.
Shreyas Iyer has been the rising star in this year’s IPL edition. He has all the shots which have impressed everybody. In the previous match against Chennai Super Kings chasing 120 Shreyas Iyer looked at ease and scored 70 off 49 balls. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore he needs to give the team a good start to put less pressure on the middle order.
Zaheer Khan looked in great form in the previous match against Chennai Super Kings. He bowled stump to stump and did not allow the batsmen to score runs freely. He bowled 4 over’s and gave away only 9 run picking 2 wickets also. Against RCB he needs to do same job against the top quality batting side like Bangalore.
