The 13th match of the IPL will see SunRisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils battle it out in Vizag today at 4.00 PM. SunRisers Hyderabad los their previous match to Rajasthan Royals whereas Delhi Daredevils ended their losing streak against Kings XI Punjab. This match will be interesting as both teams will be looking for a win and gain momentum for upcoming matches in the tournament.
For SunRisers Hyderabad, their batting looked out of sorts in their previous match making only 126 but the bowlers did a fine job in stretching Rajasthan Royals till the final over before losing eventually on the last ball.
PREVIOUS YEAR CLASHES
The first time these two teams met was at Dubai on 25th April 2014. It was a high scoring match with SunRisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat. Their openers Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner put up a 56 runs opening stand before Warner and Finch remained not out on 88 and 58 to help SunRisers post a competitive total of 184 for 1 in 20 overs.
While Chasing Delhi made a fight of the chase with openers Quinton De Kock and Murali Vijay scored 99 for the 1st wicket but after that they lost wickets. Delhi lost the match by only 4 runs.
After 15 days they met again but this time in Delhi. It was low scoring game with Sunrisers Hyderabad winning the toss and elected to field. Nobody was able to convert the 30’s into big scores. Dinesh Karthik was the top scorer with 39 and Kevin Petersen with 35. Delhi scored 143 for 7 in 20 over’s. While Chasing there target was reduced to 43 in 5 overs due to rain and they chased down the target in 4.2 over’s losing 2 wickets only. They won the match by 8 wickets.
Yuvraj Singh looked in fine touch in the previous match against Kings XI Punjab scoring 54 off 39 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. He timed the ball and made the batting looked very easy. Against a top quality bowling attack Yuvraj Singh needs to score runs again if Delhi Daredevils has to continue the winning momentum.
Imran Tahir has been brilliant for Delhi Daredevils in the tournament so far. He has picked wickets and also stopped the flow of runs. In the previous match against Kings XI Punjab he went for runs in first 3 over’s but came back in the last over and gave away only 1 run , also picked up 2 wickets also to restrict Punjab to 165.
The Indian bowler was brilliant with his pace bowling in the previous match against Rajasthan Royals. He did not pick wickets but went for 25 runs in his 4 overs. Against Delhi Daredevils Bhuvneshwar Kumar role is to pick early wickets.
The left handed batsmen did not score too much in the previous match against Rajasthan Royals. He needs to score runs if Sunrisers have to put up a competitive total on the board and also ensure that he come back in form. Sunrisers need Dhawan to score big if they have to pose a challenge for Delhi Daredevils.
