The 22nd April will see Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders in an important match at Vizag from 4.00 PM. Sunrisers lost a close match to Delhi by 4 runs while Kolkata Knight Riders have won 3 matches in a row and are in confident mood ahead of the game. Sunrisers’ main problem has been their batting which depends on 2 to 3 batsmen whereas Kolkata has a lot of depth in the batting and bowling has looked good apart from only one game.
PREVIOUS YEAR CLASHES
The first time they met last year was on 18th May at Hyderabad. It was low scoring match. Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bat. Their batting struggled. The top scorer for Sunrisers was David Warner with 34 and Pathan scored 23. Sunrisers scored a modest 142 for 8 in 20 overs. While Chasing they lost the early wicket of Gambhir but after that Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan put up an important partnership. Kolkata won the match by 7 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
6 days later they met again but this time in Kolkata. Sunrisers were invited to bat. No batsmen were able to convert 20s into big scores. The top scorers for Sunrisers were David Warner and Darren Sammy. Sunrisers scored 160 for 7 in 20 overs. While chasing Kolkata lost wickets at regular intervals but because of Yusuf Pathan 72 off 22 balls helped Kolkata to chase the target in 14.2 overs.
The Kolkata Knight Riders team has been in excellent form in the 4 matches so far. The captain Gambhir played a vital knock against Delhi Daredevils which ensured that Kolkata did not falter and achieved the target with ease. Gambhir took the charge and played a captain’s knock. Against Sunrisers his start will ensure that Kolkata continue their winning momentum.
Umesh Yadav was at his best against Delhi Daredevils. He bowled brilliantly at the start and also did not concede too many runs at end. He picked 2 wickets for 18 runs and restricted Delhi to a below par total of 146. Against Sunrisers he will again important to pick up wickets and create pressure by bowling line and length.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was in excellent form against Delhi Daredevils with his brilliant bowling. He did not pick wickets at the start but was economical. He gave away 21 runs in 4 over’s picking up 1 wicket. Against Kolkata Knight Riders he need to pick wickets if Sunrisers have stop Kolkata of getting a big score or chasing.
Despite not being in good form in the previous 2 matches Sunrisers needs Shikhar Dhawan to score huge if they have poses a challenge to Kolkata Knight Riders. His contribution will help the team to post a competitive total. He needs to take time and not hurry to play strokes.
