India will be playing five Tests, five ODIs and a T20I in the England Tour.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said the move was initiated by the team management. “It was the coach who approached us on behalf of the team and said it would be good to have Rahul with his vast experience spend some time with the boys ahead of the series,” said Patel. “We immediately requested Rahul and he readily agreed.”
The India team is already in England and on Saturday completed a three-day warm-up game against Leicestershire which was affected by rain and finally ended in a draw.
Dravid has featured in 164 Tests, 344 ODIs and 1 Twenty20 International for India. Coincidentally it was under Dravid’s captaincy that India won their last Test series in England, in 2007 and also it was just second last Overseas Test Series win as India could manage a Series victory after that which was over West Indies in 2011.
The First Test between India-England starts at Trent Bridge on July 9.
