Former India captain Rahul Dravid could be included in a newly formed committee by the sports ministry of India. The Union sports ministry is looking to form a board of experts which would help in identifying athletes with potential to win medals at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics.

The committee is likely to include famous sports personalities, with former India cricket captain Rahul Dravid also on the radar. Dravid is also understood to be keen on the idea of joining the committee.

A government source said, “Yes. We are keen on roping in Dravid. We have initiated talks at an informal level. Dravid too has reacted positively to our request. We wanted to have an elite committee outside of the ministry so that we could take our plans of fostering talent forward without a hitch. We need reputable people on the panel so that when they select medal prospects people should believe that it is the right choice.”
