Rajasthan Cricket association ropes in Gary Kirsten for pre-season camp

The Rajasthan Cricket Association, which has been banned by the BCCI for a period of two years has just signed a high profile coach for their pre-season camp, Gary Kirsten. He was the key for world cup winning Indian team in 2011. Rajasthan players will undergo a pre-season camp under his guidance which will commence from September 5 at RCA Academy in Jaipur. It will be a big exposure for the young boys who have been struggling hard to make a name for themselves and for their team.

According to the sources, it was the idea of the former IPL commissioner and former president of R.C.A. Lalit Modi to bring in Kirsten so as to train and nurture the young pool of boys.
.

‘It was Modi’s idea to bring Kirsten for a short camp before the start of a tight domestic season. He will have a short 15-days camp with our Ranji Trophy team. He has been the best coach for the Indian team and we all know what he brings with him. He understands Indian players and its culture very well.’ an RCA official said.

The current captain of Rajasthan team and the lone player with international experience in the team Pankaj Singh seemed quite amused with appointment of Kirsten and said

“We have been hearing that Kirsten will be coming and having a camp with us. I was under him for a brief time and he has a great understanding of the game. He gives space to each player. He has done wonders for Indian team and even my friends who are in the Indian team raved about his work. A 15-day camp might not bring lot changes to our team but it will help players to pick up small points which will help them in future.”

“It’s up to us, the players of RCA how much they learn from Kirsten. His experience and his cricketing skills will certainly come as big boost for all of us especially when we are going ahead for long domestic season,”

Rajat Bhatia is the other star player in the Rajasthan camp who joined the team last year after been neglected by the Delhi selectors. Surely the experience of Gary Kirsten, Pankaj Singh, and Rajat Bhatia will help this team a lot as this team needs a person who can show them the right path for a bright future.

Rajasthan team last won Ranji trophy title in 2010/11 and 2011/12 season under the leadership of former Indian player Hrishikesh Kanitkar. Aakash Chopra was another star player for them on both the occasions.
