Rajesh Pawar Picks Up Six Wickets For Zero Runs Against Mumbai Police

One of India’s veteran left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar bowled an exceptional spell of spin bowling in a local league in Mumbai. The 38-year-old, Pawar who plays for the Parkophene cricketers stunned Mumbai Police with bowling figures of 0 for 6 in six overs in Kanga League on Sunday.
Pawar is the chairman of the Mumbai u-19 selection panel. He took nine wickets in the match with figures of three for 29 in the second innings. He heroic spell in the first innings helped his team restrict Mumbai police for just 19 runs at the Kennedy Sea face venue. Joyous about his performance in the match, Pawar said:
“No one has ever had such figures in the league. I have been playing in the Kanga league for over 15 years, I don’t know if I was lucky for conceding zero runs and taking six wickets. I am not worried about getting selected for any domestic team, I am staying fit and if a chance comes, I will take it.”
Pawar was once touted as the next big thing in the Indian spin department. He was in the Indian u-19 World Cup squad in 1998 which also had the likes of Mohammed Kaif, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh. In 2007, Pawar was in the 30 man-preliminary squad for the World Cup but was not picked for the global tournament. However, he was picked up for the Test series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh just after the World Cup.
In the domestic circuit, Pawar has played for Mumbai, Baroda and Andhra Pradesh in the Ranji trophy. He has picked up 281 wickets in 84 first-class matches. He has been a part of Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians but has not played a match for both the franchise. He last played a first-class match in December 2012.
Pawar leads the Parkophene Cricketers in the Kanga league.
