IPL chairman and BCCI insider Rajiv Shukla has asked Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri to calm down and respect the decision of BCCI.
“I think both Saurav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri should adopt restraint,BCCI’s decision should be respected,”Rajiv Shukla
Shastri is angry as Ganguly was not at the interview board when he came online to give the interview. Ganguly has taken the interview of Anil Kumble. VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar were also on the board.
Ganguly in the last couple of days faced the ire of Ravi Shastri as he said the former was disrespectful to him.
“Nothing surprises me in Indian cricket anymore. A member of the committee (Ganguly) wasn’t present and that was disrespectful to the selection process,” Shastri said.
Shastri was India’s Team Director for 18 months from August 2014 to 2016 April. His tenure ended after India’s semifinal defeat to West Indies.
He was chosen as team India director when India lost the Test series to England. Shastri has instilled confidence among the India team who have won the ODI series and then fought bravely against the Australian side. India has conceded a chance to draw the series 1-1.
Then in the World Cup India have qualified for the semifinal but lost to Australia. In the Asia Cup T20 India have defeated Bangladesh in the final. India have won two Test series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Shastri has had the plan to build his pride with Virat Kohli but BCCI was not satisfied with the former’s personal issues. The Cricket Advisory Committee wanted Shastri as a batting coach and Kumble as a head coach of the team. But BCCI didn’t want Shastri in the Indian dressing room.
But Shastri wanted to make Ganguly a fall guy as he failed to become Indian coach. On the other former cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar said Shastri is not familiar with rejection and Gautam Gambhir said Shastri was desperate to become Indian coach.
Ganguly on Wednesday opened up and said, Shastri stays in “fool’s paradise”. Ganguly also said, “I say this with anger that my counter piece of advice to Shastri that he should have been present physically and not holidaying in Bangkok for such an important event. Ravi should have shown some more maturity before going public about it,”
