Ranji Trophy 2016: Harbhajan Singh To Lead Punjab In Absence Of Yuvraj Singh

Discarded Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, is set to make a comeback for Punjab in Ranji Trophy. Harbhajan will be leading the Punjab Ranji Squad in the seventh round of Ranji Trophy against Tamil Nadu in Nagpur. After missing the first six rounds of the premier tournament, this will be the first time when Harbhajan will be playing the tournament this season. In fact, he has not played any form of competitive cricket since IPL. It was exactly six months ago when Bhajji participated in recognised cricket, finally, the exile is over for him and he is set to make a comeback on the field.
In case he comes up with a stand out performance in this game, there may be a faded chance when selectors might consider him for rest of the Tests in place of Amit Mishra as he is an off-spinner and presence of oodles of left-handers in England squad is a bit of thing going in his favour. Surely, he will have this thing somewhere in back of his mind.
Punjab squad also includes the comeback man Kamal Passi who shifted his base to Services last year due to unavailability of fast bowling spot in Punjab team
With two wins in five games, Punjab sits at fourth position with 16 points. They have won two matches till now with three games left in the tournament.
Punjab team will miss out on the services of Yuvraj Singh for rest of group stage as Yuvraj is set to tie the knot at the end of this month. We may also see Harbhajan Singh missing a round to participate in his wedding like Yuvraj Singh did last year to participate in Bhajji’s wedding.
Punjab Squad vs Tamil Nadu: Harbhajan Singh (Captain), Manan Vohra, Jiwanjot Singh, Uday Kaul, Mandeep Singh, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Geetansh Khera, Mayank Siddana, Sandeep Sharma, Manpreet Singh Grewal, Siddharth Kaul, Rajwinder Singh, Pargat Singh, Sharad Lumba, Kamal Passi and Anmol Malhotra.
