Tami Nadu clinched a crucial lead of 90 runs over Gujarat on the third day of the Round 9 of Ranji Trophy. On Thursday, Tamil Nadu batsmen got off to a great start. The succeeding batsmen continued to do well and they finished the Day 3 at 397/4 with just a day remaining. They would really like to play for the first session on Saturday so as to have a chance of bowling out Gujarat in the final two sessions of the game.
Gujarat, on the other hand, have suffered a big blow as now they can get a maximum of just three points from this game and will have to depend upon the results of other games so as to keep their hopes alive for the next round.

Haryana finally qualified for the quarter-finals after a period of five years by defeating Tripura in the last round of the Ranji Trophy 2016/17. They set up a tough target of 315 runs in front of Tripura at then Eden Gardens in Kolkata which they failed to chase, thereby losing the match by 119 runs.
