Ravi Shastri was expected to come up with a fierce reply to the query of Kevin Pietersen, where he asked the Head Coach of Indian cricket about his appointment.
However, the things panned out in a totally opposite manner, as Shastri answered to Pietersen’s inquiry in a polite manner. Here is what Shastri wrote in reply to Pietersen’s reply –
Hey bro. Good to be back with the boys. Hope you are lighting up the Oval

The story started when Ravi shared few photos of Indian practice game on Twitter. Pietersen, who might have been unknown regarding the appointment of Shastri as the Head Coach of Indian cricket team or may knowingly took a subtle dig at the cricketer by asking he was back as the Head Coach of Indian cricket team. Shastri, instead of coming up with a reply which could have extended the matter, gave a light hearted reply.

It’s a no brainer that Virat Kohli played a crucial role in appointment of Shastri and the former Indian all-rounder was confirmed of his job, as soon as he applied for it because earlier, the last date to apply for the job was June 1 but BCCI later extended the date till July 9 to give few more days to allow other men have a go at it. Shastri was the only biggest personality who applied for it after the date was extended and emerged as the winner as well.
Sourav Ganguly, one of the members of cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) that selected the coach has already confirmed about Kohli’s role in the appointment of Shastri, which leaves no room for any doubts or making assumptions.

Other members of support also have been handed the contracts for the same number of period. Bharat Arun is the only new man in the team, as the bowling coach. Sanjay Bangar and R Sridhar have been retained along with Patrick Farhat and Shankar Basu. Though Bangar got a promotion as he was given the job of the assistant coach.
