Ravichandran Ashwin these days probably seems to be in the fun mode as his team Pune, at the moment, looks out of contention for playoffs this season .
Since the World T20, Ashwin is seldom given his full quota of overs. Ashwin these days making a headline for his humorous tweets and hilarious reply to his fans.
He also conducted a session of question and answer for a sports magazine. Now he danced.
The Tamil Nadu offie, who played for two-time champion Chennai Super Kings for the last couple of editions is now looking forward to delivering for his new franchise.
“It’s not difficult in that sense. I am certainly looking forward to it playing for a new team. In this particular franchise, everything is new for them as well. Going into IPL for the first time, they need to get the logistics, team dynamics — because you will lose a few games as that’s the nature of this tournament
“Losing some close games also, you have to live with it and not press forward. The franchise and players working together is the biggest challenge and the best thing in this IPL,” he said.
Ashwin recently in an interview to Cricinfo said he is playing a unique role, but he does not know how is not getting a full quota of bowling.
R Ashwin is not having a very good IPL as per his standards and when asked about this the spinner said that he still did not know what exactly his role was and that he was still finding his footing.
“The role I’m playing at Supergiants is pretty different and it’s pretty unique. We’re still gelling into the team and I’m still finding my own feet in this team because I don’t know what role I’m exactly playing so I’m just feeling into it. It’s common when a franchise starts off new,” he said. “I have gone out bowling my leg spin a lot, I thought I should be using it this IPL. I don’t know…the time might come where I will use it. I keep seeing him [M Ashwin] and the way he loads and tries and ask him a few questions.”
One can only hope Ashwin is back to his best as he is one of the few world-class spinners left in today’s cricket.
