India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, on Twitter, has urged fans not to tag his wife in their tweets.
The off-spinner has been receiving a lot of flak from fans after snubbing Mahendra Singh Dhoni from his thank you speech after winning the ICC Cricketer of the Year and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2016 awards.
Dedicating the awards to his family and teammates, he said:“I’d like to dedicate this award to my family. I’d like to thank ICC and most importantly my teammates. I’d also like to thank the support staff for our success. We’ve had a great transition ever since Mahendra Singh Dhoni hung up his boots. A young captain has taken over, we fell on the right track, and we now have a new bunch of boys.”
The speech infuriated MS Dhoni’s ‘so-called’ fans and they took to social media to slam the bowler who received a lot of support from the former Test skipper during his initial years in international cricket. And although the Indian star did not react to the widespread criticism, he asked the fans to not involve his wife in the matter.
He tweeted:“One small request, please do not tag my wife in all your funny tweets. She has better things to look after, although I am over it.”
