The Indian selectors announced the Test squad to take on South Africa for the first two Tests. Ravindra Jadeja, who was recently ignored by the selectors for the first three ODI’s, makes a comeback to the Test side.

The best news for the hosts is that off-spinner R. Ashwin was declared fit for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Ashwin, who was injured in the first ODI, played a massive role in India’s triumph over Sri Lanka recently. With Ashwin in the squad, the Indians have gone with three different types of spinners.

Shockingly, the Indian selectors did not name any other off-spinner in the Indian squad. Harbhajan Singh, who played in Galle Test against Sri Lanka was ignored and was replaced by Jadeja. The second spinner to feature in the squad is leggie Amit Mishra.

Stuart Binny also retained his place in the test side after a decent performance against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, wicket keeper Naman Ojha, who featured in the third test against Sri Lanka, was left out of the team as Wriddhiman Saha is back after an injury.

India Test squad (first two Tests): Virat Kohli (capt), Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul, Stuart Binny, Varun Aaron, Ishant Sharma.
