India v Australia: Ravindra Jadeja Satisfied With His Progress Across All Formats

As India is on the brink to claim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the revelation for India, Ravindra Jadeja is delighted after delivering goods for his Test side during the ongoing four-match series against Australia, the all-rounder stated he is happy to perform well before expressing his satisfaction for doing well across all formats.

“It’s a good feeling that I am doing well in Test matches. I have done well in ODIs in the past but this year, I have done well in Test matches also,” Jadeja said during the presser after stumps were drawn on day three.

The vital cog for India, in home conditions, is confident to do well in the upcoming fixtures as he credited success to his hard work and dedication before praising the teamwork for performing well under pressure.

“You can be bindaas (carefree). We were not afraid as we were not on the back foot. In this scenario, one can bowl with a free mind, not thinking about pressure,” Jadeja said.

During the ongoing four-match Border-Gavaskar series the left-arm orthodox spinner had picked 25 while scoring two crucial fifties for his team.

“So there’s satisfaction now that I am suitable for both (longer and shorter) formats,” Jadeja revealed.

The left-hand batsman has played a significant role while batting in the first innings of the series decider when he knitted a 96-run partnership with wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha for the seventh wicket after India was reeling at 221 for six on day two.

Handy with the bat and ball, Jadeja scored 63 off 95 balls which included four boundaries and sixes respectively in the first innings of the series decider and has picked four wickets in the fourth and final match as India require 87 with two days to go.

“Yes, it was a tough situation in the morning, as there was seam and bounce in the wicket. I have seen these kind of situations in Test cricket but today I realized what exactly people mean when they talk about challenges of Test cricket,” Jadeja added.

Jamnagar-born 28-year-old Jadeja stated the achievement for him is to deliver for the team in a winning cause which has further strengthened his belief in improving game after another.

“If someone works hard, it is with an aim to become a valuable player. My biggest achievement more than any award, is contributing in a winning cause for my team. It feels good that people say that I am one of the responsible players of this team,” Jadeja remarked.

After India got a slender lead of 32 runs, Jadeja stated it was decent lead to put Australia under sort of a pressure on a pitch which he offered much to the seamers and spinners.

“Sometimes even a 32-run lead is big enough with uneven bounce and when the ball is swinging and deviating after hitting the cracks,” Jadeja concluded.

In 30 Tests which is spread over 46 innings, Jadeja has bagged 142 wickets at an average of 23.12 which include eight five-wicket hauls as well.

At stumps on day three, India was 19 without a loss while chasing the target of 106 after Australia skittled for 137 in 53.5 overs in the third session.
