In the second game of the first double-header of the Indian Premier League 2017, Shane Watson, skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and decided to bat first.
RCB made oodles of changes in the side after suffering a loss at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad early in the tournament. There were a total of four changes to the side as Travis Head, Aniket Choudhary, Sachin Baby, and Sreenath Aravind missed out, whereas, Billy Stanlake, Vishnu Vinod, Pawan Negi, and Iqbal Abdulla walked into the playing eleven. Vinod and Stanlake will be making their IPL debut.
On the other side, Zaheer Khan was happy to bowl first keeping in mind the dew factor which might into play later and aid the team batting second i.e. Delhi Daredevils.
Sam Billings, Chris Morris, Carlos Brathwaite and Pat Cummins were the four overseas players for Delhi Daredevils.
A big score is expected in the game keeping in mind the short boundaries of M. Chinnaswamy stadium and batting friendly track.
It is the RCB side that possesses an edge over Delhi statistically, as they have won nine games out of 15 contests these two have participated in, whereas, the visitors have just ended on the winning side just six times.
Here is what captains said at the toss –
Watson:
“We are playing in front of an incredible atmosphere. Hopefully, we can get the fans going. Anything over 170 will be a good total. We have four changes. Billy Stanlake, Vishnu Vinod, Negi, and Abdulla are in. Head, Aniket, Baby, and Aravind miss out.”
Zaheer:
“We were looking to bowl, so our plans have not changed. Good toss to lose. Our overseas players are Billings, Cummins, Morris, and Brathwaite.”
