In the name of exprience there have been talks and suggestions to consider some yester year players for World Cup 2015. Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan have played for the country in all forms of cricket. They were important part of Indian cricket and were a member of winning World Cup sqaud which Indian team won in 2011.
Yuvraj Singh has been one of the finest player for India in One day Internationals and T-20 cricket. He was a part of winning of the first T-20 World Cup in 2007 and also played a crucial part in World CUp 2011 which the Indian team won. Since then he has been in and out of the team since he suffered from Cancer. His courage and fight back is appreciable. His contribution must not be forgotten to the Indian Cricket. I would definitely love to see him comeback for seeing his blistering shots from his bat and also his clever bowling. However he had himself said that he might not play again for India. Chances of his consideration appear to be minimal.
Gatuam Gambhir was a graceful opener untill 2011. He too played all three versions of the game. He and Sehwag are the best known openers for the country. He made a comeback in the Indian test team against England in August 2014 but was terriably out of form in two chances that he got to play. Gambhir is playing and leading Kolkatta Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League(IPL) and also the champions league 2014 who was impressive in that tournament. His recent score of 167 in the Duleep Trophy against Central Zone was also impressive. The selectors may have look at him for last time for the test series against Australia because of his exprience.
Virender Sehwag has been an extraoridnary batsman in cricketing history. He has lots of record to his name including two triple centuries in test matches and double century in One day Internationals. On his day he is still force to reckon. But despite playing IPL and Champions League T-20 his place in the team will a doubtfull because of slow reflexes, average fiedling and running between wickets.
Zaheer Khan has been a regular pace bowler for the Indian team untill recently. His problem has been the frequent injuires that he has been suffering from often. His pace and accuracy has dropped down drastically. Therefore his coming in the team is out of contention.
Harbhajan has been a good spinner for India for more than a decade. He has been playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL, with average performances in that too in last 2 years. Therefore he might not be considered for India as it has happended in last 2 to 3 years.
All these five players have contributed to Indian cricket a lot but these days there form, fitness, reflexes had slowed down. With many youngsters coming to the Indian team their chances of coming back in shorter format ie T-20 and ODI looks very bleak. There class will never be a doubt. As an Indian fan I would love to see 2 of them namely Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh should make a cut into the thirty member squad of the World Cup, beyond that the contest is very tough. All of them need to work on their fitness and regain their form
