The confusion around Sourav Ganguly’s role in the Indian Cricket setup has finally resolved as BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has confirmed that the former captain will be appointed as one of the BCCI advisers soon.
It has been learnt that Dalmiya, who shares a good rapport with Ganguly, wants him to take up this role and give his advise on all matters related to cricket. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is also expected to appointed for the same role.
During an interview with India Today, Dalmiya said:
“I was always clear that cricketing matters should be left completely in the hands of the cricketing legends.”
Earlier, Ganguly’s name came up for various posts including the coach of the Indian team. There were some reports that he might be appointed as the consultant or the high performance manager of the team. But now with Dalmiya’s interview, more or less his role has been cleared.
The board is also likely to appoint Ravi Shastri for the same role which means that his stint as team India’s Director might come to an end after the Bangladesh tour.
