With just three days to go for the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka at Cuttack, the Sri Lankan bowlers were hammered by the India A batsmen during the warm-up match between the two teams. Rohit Sharma, who returns to action from a two month injury lay-off set the tone for India A with a solid knock of 142 off 111 balls. He along with Manish Pandey (135 off 113) propelled India A to a mammoth total of 381 for 6 in 50 overs.

After choosing to bowl, the Sri Lankan new ball bowlers of Nuwan Kulasekara and Dhamikka Prasad were put on the back foot since the word go as the Indian openers Unmukt Chand (53 off 42 balls) and Rohit Sharma who put on a partnership of 95 runs in 12overs before Chand was caught by Kumar Sangakkara off pacer Lahiru Gamage.

It was when Pandey and Rohit began their assault on the bowlers. Rohit showed some glimpses of his talent as he played with a flair. He batted with confidence as he had 18 shots to the fence and one over it. He eventually got out for 142 after a mix-up with Manish Pandey.

Pandey, on the other hand remained not out on 135 off 113 balls. Manoj Tiwary chipped in with a useful 36 in the end overs. Prasad was the pick of the Lankan bowlers with figures of 3-57 in 6 overs along with Gamage who settled for 2-41 in seven overs.
