Rohit Sharma wished the talented Sri Lankan pacer and his IPL teammate Lasith Malinga on his 34th birthday.
Both the cricketers share a special bond with each other. They play for the same franchise – Mumbai Indians in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). The two perform as a captain – player duo with Sharma leading the side and Malinga as the bowling spearhead.
Marking the special occasions, Sharma, who is fresh from his match winning century last night, wrote:
“A true match winner that every captain would love to have in his team, done it so often for his country & Mumbai India. Happy birthday Lasith Malinga”

The two have won IPL title thrice playing together. In 110 IPL matches, the 34-year old has taken 154 wickets and continued to be a leader of the bowling pack. The current Indian team, especially has a lot of respect for the legendary player as most of them have a lot of experience with Malinga.
Apart From Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, India’s emerging Yorker specialist, and Hardik Pandya, the emerging all-rounder, have a great experience of playing with Malinga. The duo, in fact, considers him as a mentor, especially Bumrah who has credited Malinga many times for his superb success with the Yorker delivery which he honed under the guidance of the Lankan legend.
Malinga is currently with the Sri Lankan team and played in the XI which lost the 3rd ODI at Pallekelle. India has already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and is aiming a complete whitewash in the ODIs too after having already achieved the feat in the Tests.
