The Background:
Discarded India fast-bowler S Sreesanth’s dream of playing professional cricket seems to have ended. Earlier this year, the 34-year old was all over the news after he moved to the Kerala High Court, seeking a directive to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to lift the life ban imposed on him in 2013 for his alleged involvement in IPL spot-fixing. The fast-bowler had taken the step after being denied of a Non-Objection Certificate from the BCCI to play club cricket in Scotland.
Sreesanth, who long with his former Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were banned for life by the BCCI’s disciplinary committee in September 2013, was cleared of all charges by a Delhi trial court in 2015 due to insufficient evidence. However, the Indian board has not lifted the ban since their decision was independent to any criminal proceeding and was based on its independent disciplinary action.
The Story:
With the BCCI still not willing to lift the ban, any chances of seeing the bowler back on the cricket field are looking very bleak. And so instead of sitting idly, the Kerala bowler has decided to try his hand in a different field. Sreesanth, whose dancing abilities are well known, is now trying his luck as an actor with his debut movie ‘Team 5’ slated to release on 14 of the next month. The movie looks all about the lead actor’s love for biking and daredevilry and well one can say that it looks interesting.
Here is the trailer of the movie:
Sreesanth was one of the most highly-rated bowlers when he burst onto the scene in the second half of the last decade. He was a part of the Indian team that won the World T20 and World Cup in 2007 and 2011, respectively. He took 87 and 75 wickets in 27 Tests and 53 ODIs, respectively.
