Former Indian cricketer and the World Cup winning captain, Kapil Dev, has said that Sachin Tendulkar didn’t do justice to his talent. He went on to say that he didn’t know how to make double and triple hundreds in Test matches.
He added that Sachin had the ability to score them but was stuck in the way cricket was played in Bombay. Also, Kapil feels that Sachin needed to be more ruthless like Vivian Richards, and should have spent time with Viv and not those local Bombay cricketers.
Kapil, though, added that there was nothing wrong in Sachin’s technique and had a sound one, but then he showed promise only to score hundreds and not beyond them. Had Tendulkar came to me for advice, I would have asked him to be freer and play like Sehwag and he would have performed much better, Kapil added.
Kapil Dev was along Shane Warne, Wasim Akram and Ian Botham when he said so. On the other hand, Warne said that Sachin was the best batsman he has played against. He added that Sachin was a special player. He also added that Sachin is a wonderful friend as well, and he has realised that as he is now doing business along with Sachin.
