Australian sparkling batsman Glenn Maxwell has selected legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar as an opener in his list of ‘greatest ODI team ever’. Surprisingly, this line-up also includes five of his compatriots.
In his blog published in Cricket Australia before the World Cup, Maxwell has listed former wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist as an opening pair with ‘absolute God of India’, Sachin Tendulkar in his list of favorite eleven.
Maxwell has chosen number three and skipper of the team would be former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.
The list further carries superb batting stalwarts like Brain Lara, Dean Jones, Viv Richards and all-rounder Jacques Kallis to form a solid middle-order line-up.
Selecting a dependable bowling line-up, Maxwell has clarified that the four bowlers’ spots were tightly contested, stressing that he would begin with the King of Swing, Wasim Akram, then opts the King of Spin, quite controversial at times, Shane Warne.
Another two of very important places would be filled by the King of Reverse Swing , Waqar Younis, and the Australian legend Glenn McGrath, Maxwell added.
The ICC’s most prestigious and popular tournament is scheduled to be held from February 14 in Australia and New Zealand. Team India led by MS Dhoni is among the front runners.
