If you actively follow cricket on twitter, it can be assumed that Virender Sehwag and his antics must be well known to you. The trolls, memes and funny one –liners make news almost on daily basis.
Sehwag has developed a comical personality but he is not only about being funny all the time. Sometimes, when the right occasion arrives, he doesn’t refrain from sharing his piece of mind with his followers.
Therefore, when Sehwag came across the news about Sarfaraz Ahmed getting mocked for lack of English proficiency, he quickly jumped in defence of the Pakistan skipper.
Players from the subcontinent, where a large chunk of the population speaks Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu, generally struggle with the foreign languages. They are not habitual to speaking English as most of the stars emerge from lesser known towns and cities where English doesn’t have much importance and relevance. So, naturally, when the press conference featuring foreign media occurs, the players face a tough time expressing themselves.
Sarfraz Ahmed also has been facing the same problem ever since he became the captain of the Pakistan side in the ODI and the T20I format. But, a few social media users made things unacceptable and took a jibe at him after his latest press conference ahead of the Champions Trophy finals.
Sehwag wasn’t amused and took to social media to express his unhappiness and also deliver a message to his followers, “Criticising Sarfaraz for not speaking English is insane. His job is to play & he has done brilliantly 2 take Pak in finals #StopColonialMindset”

The fans from both the sides were quickly united and appreciated Sehwag’s gestures.
But, ironically, they are not likely to stay united for long as they will get busy rooting for their respective teams – India and Pakistan – in the upcoming finals of the Champions Trophy 2017 at the KIA Oval, London.
Pakistan will be facing defending champions India after defeating England in the 1st semi-final by 8 wickets. Both India and Pakistan were placed in the same Group B alongside South Africa and Sri Lanka and have already met once during the league stages.
The meeting ended in an embarrassing result for Pakistan as they inflicted a heavy 124 runs loss at Edgbaston, Birmingham. However, the loss did not deter them from moving ahead as they went on to beat South Africa and Sri Lanka later on to earn a place in the semi – finals before eventually making their way to the finals.
