In cricket we often see batsmen getting out in the most horrible fashion we can imagine.
One such incident happened with Virendar Sehwag when he got run out in the most bizarre fashion but the credit of the dismissal goes to Sri Lankan wicket keeper Kumara Sangakara.
It all happened when India was playing Sri Lanka. In the 18th over, Lasith Malinga bowled a delivery wide of the off-stump. Sehwag in his style sent the ball to the third man fielder employing his signature upper cut and went for a run allowing non-striker Sourav Ganguly to come to his crease.
As the third man fielder threw the ball back to keeper Sangakara, Sehwag had reached the other end of the pitch was walking comfortably towards the crease.
Now here comes the twist. Sehwag must have been more than relaxed and was walking lazily towards the crease. Sangakara must have noticed this and showed great presence of mind and threw the ball right into the wickets. Ganguly tried to warn Sehwag by shouting “Viru,Viru” but till then the damage was already done as Sehwag fell short of the crease.
Sehwag himself looked pretty confused as he tried to ascertain what actually happened. As the Lankan playes appealed, umpires referred the decision to the third umpire and Sehwag was declared out.
This got to be one of the most unluckiest dismissals of his career but the credit goes exclusively to Sangakara who converted less than a half-chance into a wicket!
