Shahid Afridi Considers Bangladesh His Second Home

Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi who is regarded as one of the cleanest strikers of the ball is currently taking part in the Bangladesh Premier League where he is playing for the Rangpur Riders franchise. The all-rounder claimed that he considers Bangladesh as his 2nd home during an interactive session with the satellite news channel Jamuna TV. He also spoke about the success of the ongoing BPL and how the exposure of Bangladesh players rubbing shoulders with some of the best will help them improve their game and have a better future.

“Bangladesh is like my second home,” said Afridi. “Whenever I come to this country, I receive huge love and support from the spectators. My time is not going well with the bat. Still, I am glad how people here in Bangladesh kept supporting me in every single match. I want to come here again.”

It might be noted that Afridi runs his social organisation since and is named the Afridi Foundation which works for health and education of people who are suffering from poverty.

As per reports, Afridi’s organisation is pretty much active in Pakistan, but now he is planning to spread the activities to Bangladesh as well. Meanwhile, the flamboyant all-rounder showered praises on his teammate Mohammad Mithun.

“Many young talents will come up through this season’s BPL. Especially I want to mention the name of Mithun. I think he will very soon come back to the national team,” said Afridi.

Afridi smashed a sensational 15 balls 37 against Sylhet a few days earlier which enabled his team to register a brilliant victory. Meanwhile, Afridi also hailed Pakistan’s current skipper across formats Sarfaraz Ahmed and backed him to lead the team successfully in all three formats.

“From what I see now, Sarfaraz seems to be the best fit for captain in all three formats of the game,” Afridi was quoted as saying by PakPassion.Net. Afridi in his previous statement for Sarfaraz said that he should lead in all 3 formats only if he considers himself fit both physically and mentally. Otherwise, he should lead in limited overs only.

“I recall advising Sarfaraz that if he had trouble handling all three formats then he should look to just play ODIs and T20Is. However, if he felt he was mentally up to it and physically fit, and could handle the pressure brought on by captaincy in all three formats, then he should carry on and do his best for Pakistan,” he said.
