Shahid Afridi to be Pakistan’s new T20 Captain

All Rounder Shahid Afridi, in all likelihood is set to become the new T20 captain for Pakistan after Mohamad Hafeez stepped down from the post after his team failed to do well in the 2014 World T20 that took place Bangladesh. This will be Shahid Afridi’s second tenure as Pakistan’s T20’s Captain as he led his side 9 times in the past including the 2010 World T20.

The official announcement of this can be expected anytime soon. Shahid Afridi will lead Pakistan in the one-off T20 against Pakistan that will take place on October 5 in Abu Dhabi. Afridi is expected to lead the side atleast continue till the 2016 World T20 whereas Misbah-ul-Haq will continue as the skipper of Test and ODI side till the 2015 World Cup, which might be his last tournament as a player.

“In line with my policy of taking decisions democratically I consulted the Cricket Committee and my board members before announcing these decisions and I wish both Afridi and Misbah very good luck in their upcoming assignments.” PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said.
