Former Australian spin legend and all time great, Shane Warne is working with Pakistani spin sensation Yasir Shah, ahead of the Asian team’s tour of England in July. Shah has been Pakistan’s best bowler since the last couple of years and has risen up in world rankings in simply no time. When England last toured UAE, Shah was the thorn in the flesh for England as his wrist spin dented England’s batting for the series.
During that series as well, Warne was seen assisting Shah in UAE. With Pakistan now set to tour England for a test series after a span of 6 years, Warne has once again been witnessed helping the talented leg spinner from Pakistan.
“He is probably the best leg-spinner in the world,” Warne was quoted saying about Yasir during the test series between Pakistan and England in UAE last year. “The way the ball comes out of his hand, it is just absolutely fantastic. It is as good a leg-break that you can possibly see,” the Aussie legend mentioned back then.
Speaking to a Pakistani daily, Shah said that he was seeking some inspiration from Shane Warne. “I have watched his videos and also had a chat with him on the telephone because he has an excellent track record in English conditions,” Shah said about Warne. “I am getting some tips from the legend and learned some key things such as how he used to slow down his pace in England among other variations.”
The leg-spinner added that he was upbeat about the upcoming tour and looking forward to the Lord’s test. “There would be no better place to make a successful comeback to Test cricket than England and I am looking forward to the first Test at Lord’s,” he added. “I am looking forward to bowling to the English batsmen in their own backyard. It will be a big challenge but I love challenges.”
