Shane Watson a part of tumour: Michael Clarke

The former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has opened up about his feud with different players during his playing days and has denied the claim that he ever called Shane Watson a ‘cancer’ for the team. While speaking at a TV show 60minutes at channel nine, Clarke cleared many rumors and expressed open views regarding his rough past of Australian cricket team.

“No, I didn’t say that,

“I said that there is a number of players or a group in this team at the moment that are like a tumor, and if we don’t fix it, it’s going to turn into cancer,” said Clarke.

He also revealed the story which goes back to 2009 when Simon Katich grabbed Clarke by throat following a disagreement over whether the Aussie team should sing team song post victory over South Africa or not. Michael Clarke was the vice-captain of the Australian team at the time, Katich was never selected to play for Australia again despite having a great form in past few years.

“I think a lot of us were getting wound up, so I think I had every reason to be p—– off. But I don’t think my language was appropriate to Kato,

“It turned out – I found out four days later that Matthew Hayden was going to retire after that Test match. So I think Haydos wasp—– off as well that that happened in his last Test,” he adds.

Clarke also revealed a revelation that it was his selfish act to promote himself as the poster boy for leading Australia in Test cricket “I think if I performed well, I was happy. If I performed bad, I was shattered,

“I don’t think I was a good vice-captain at all. As soon as I got given the vice-captaincy, I think the perception was I was automatically the next captain, and that built. I never dreamt of captaining Australia. I couldn’t care less if I captained Australia or not” says Clarke.

Clarke has had many issues with former Australian players and coach John Buchanan, the former Australian coach who played a handful of domestic matches before turning himself to a full-time coach. Clarke, in past, went on to say that Buchanan has no knowledge of baggy green as he has never worn it. He also had issues with Andrew Symonds in past.
