The probability of Sharad Pawar and his bivouac taking control of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have gained as Sharad Pawar just met Indian prime minister Narendra Modi, and informed him that he will not be backing Narayanaswami Srinivasan or his ‘cronies’ for the top position in the Indian cricket governing body.
Times of India reported, Sharad Pawar stated to Narendra Modi that even though he is not focused in the presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he is also not going to support Narayanaswami Srinivasan’s strive of managing the cricket governing body by recruiting Sanjay Patel, the obligatory Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, as the president.
Sharad Pawar told the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he is going to support ‘any candidate’ but Narayanaswami Srinivasan or Sanjay Patel. The report further added that Sharad Pawar is also ready to observe with non-political person for the designation and at the same time, someone who may also be sharing good equations with both the Bhartiya Janata Party and his Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Recently a source said that he is also interested to support any Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate with whom he might share a good relation.
There is also a chance that Sharad Pawar, may stand for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) presidency as he is ‘deeply unhappy’ with the present condition of the Indian cricket managing body. The present situation in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pretty interesting, both the camps, pro Narayanaswami Srinivasan and those against him have equal number of votes and those who are not in support are hoped to win through the support from institutional bodies such as Railways and Services and Combined Universities. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) elections will be held on 2nd March 2 and the last date for filing nominations is 1st March.
