India’s Shikhar Dhawan became the fifth fastest batsman to cross the 2000 runs in ODI’s. He achieved this in the third ODI against Sri Lanka, his 49th ODI and 48th innings. South Africa’s Hashim Amla is the fastest to reach that mark as he crossed 2000 ODI runs in 40 innings. Amla is followed by Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas who took 5 innings more than the South African.

West Indian great Viv Richards too took 48 innings to cross the landmark score in ODI’s. Dhawan surpassed NS Sidhu, who took 52 innings as the fastest Indian to reach the milestone.
