Shoaib Akhtar, the mercurial former Pakistani pacer is in the headlines yet again. In his playing days, Akhtar was known to be in the news for all the wrong reasons. Even after four years of retirement, Akhtar’s name keeps popping up in the news for all the negative reasons.

This time around, the Rawalpindi Express has openly mocked and questioned the cricket culture in Pakistan. While speaking to respected commentator Harsha Bhogle in a talk show, Akhtar overtly spoke against the way in which Pakistani cricket functioned. The hot-head pacer also took digs at his former teammates.

Shoaib Akhtar was quoted saying, “Pakistan team is not to be taken seriously. All the captains of the team lacked any Cricket knowledge. The results of the matches were decided in the dressing room, and playing in actual did not contribute to the results. I cannot tell you how many fixers there were in the team. In Pakistan Cricket team, everyone played for himself and no one played for the team as a whole.” he added.

A few months ago, Akhtar was severely criticized back home in Pakistan, when he made fun of former Pakistani cricketers in a comedy show in India. Back then, Akhtar enjoyed mimicking his former teammates, and this surely wasn’t taken positively in Pakistan.

It seems that whatever Akhtar says, lands him in a serious controversy.
