Former Pakistani speedster, “The Rawalpindi Express”, Shoaib Akhtar has started another innings of his life. Recentyas has been married to a 20-year old girl from Haripur in the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province in Pakistan.

The wedding was a secret affair with only close family members attending the gathering. A media source of Pakistan, Duniya TV channel reported that Akhtar married Rubab in a quiet nikah ceremony in Haripur.

According to the report, “The haq mahar has been kept at half a million rupees and Akhtar’s parents attended the simple nikahceremony.”

According to family sources, the ‘Nikkah’ was solemnised after ‘Isha’ prayers on June 23rd in Mohalla Ramzani. The ceremony was attended by close family members. There was a rumour about Akhtar’s marriage in the beginning of this month and on June 7th, Akhtar denied about the rumour of his marriage and he even tweeted about that.

But the news at present confirmed that he has married a day before. A source close to Akhtar, 38, confirmed to PTI that the fast bowler and his family had visited the girl’s residence on June 12 where both families agreed on the wedding date. Reportedly, Akhtar’s wife Rubab was born in 1994 and has little interest in cricket. She appeared in intermediate exams conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad last month.

The marriage took place by maintaining the ceremonies. Earlier, a ‘mehndi’ function was scheduled for June 19, and the ‘rukhsati’ for the June 20 at Haripur’s Bilawal Hall and his ‘valima’ was due to be held in Rawalpindi on the June 22.

The Pakistani speedster dominated the opposition with his sheer pace in bowling for over a decade. He retired from international cricket in 2011 during the World Cup
