Noted journalist and columnist Shobhaa De is once again in news albeit for wrong reasons just like she made headlines during the Rio Olympics. This time around she has targeted Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Earlier, during the summer Olympics she took a dig at Indians athletes’ inability to win medals. At that time India had not won a single medal at the games and De took to Twitter to express her frustration. According to her, all athletes were doing at the Olympics was clicking selfies, and wasting opportunity and money. “Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity,” De tweeted.

Now she raised a question on the BMW cars being presented to standout performers of the Rio games. Sachin Tendulkar, the Brand Ambassador of BMW presented the luxury car each to Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar, PV Sindhu and badminton coach P Gopichand.

Rumours of Sachin Tendulkar buying the cars to gift them were doing the rounds. But these cars were actually purchased by President of Hyderabad District Badminton Association, Chamundeshwarnath and Sachin Tendulkar just presented them.

Now, Shobhaa De opined that the whole scenario is nothing more than an advertising campaign for BMW and took a slight dig at Sachin.

As expected the Twitterati were miffed with her post and trolled her again:

An avid sports lover, i always wanted to pursue a career in football. Anyway, writing for sports has kept me closer to this field. One more thing, yours sincerely is a die-hard Liverpool fan. You will never walk alone.
