What a splendid performance by Sarfaraz Ahmed, wicket keeper of Pakistan, who has been instrumental in paving way for victory of his Team over South Africa. By virtue of their equation it was imperative for Pakistan to win that crucial match and thanks to vital contribution of Sarfaraz Ahmed Pakistan is still in the fray.
But in a rather amazing move, Pakistan coach Waqar Younis on Saturday staged a walk out of his post-match press conference when he was asked about wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed. This peculiar incident takes place when a journalist asked Waqar as to why Sarfaraz Ahmed has not been included in the team earlier. Instead of answering this simple question, Younis said,”I won’t answer stupid questions”. And he walked out.
It is important to highlight that on Saturday Sarfaraz Ahmed was given a chance to play in the World Cup for the first time in Pakistan’s 29 run win over South Africa and he did not disappoint. He put in a man of the match performance scoring 49 runs as an opener and set a new record by taking six crucial catches behind the stumps.
On Saturday, Pakistan pulled off a sensational win on the Duckworth-Lewis method after the match was curtailed to a 47-over-a-side contest due to rain at Eden Park in Auckland.
It is strange to see that politics and infighting still hampers Pakistan cricket.
