Sourav Ganguly Feels India Women’s Team Will Win The World Cup Tomorrow

Former Indian captain and the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Sourav Ganguly has backed the Indian Women’s cricket team to lift their maiden World Cup title tomorrow when they meet hosts England in the final at the iconic Lord’s.

The southpaw hailed Harmanpreet Kaur for her sensational innings in the semi finals which helped India complete a resounding 36 runs victory over 6-time world champions Australia.

Harmanpreet was literally unstoppable at the Derby on Thursday as she tore apart the Australian bowling attack. It was pure brutal hitting which left the Australians in dismay. Their captain Meg Lanning conceded the fact that they simply had no idea how to stop the brutal assault from the blade of Harmanpreet.

She just literally toyed with them and kept on depositing them to different parts of the ground. Ganguly said that he watched her innings on Thursday and she is of the opinion that India will beat England in the final tomorrow.

“I saw her innings, (Harmanpreet) Kaur was superb yesterday. They will beat England in the final on Sunday,” Ganguly said to reporters at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

Meanwhile, Ganguly who is part of the Cricket Advisory Committee also comprising of other stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman informed that the CAB has made profits to say of more than Rs. 10 crores in the last fiscal because some dues are not cleared yet with Lodha reforms not being implemented.

“We made a lot of profits this year. It’s actually more than Rs 10 crore,” Ganguly said after the completion of the finance committee meeting.

If the Indian Women’s team does manage to win tomorrow, it will be a historic achievement which might just pave the way for the betterment of women’s cricket in the future. It won’t be an easy task for the Women in Blue as England is a top side and have lots of star players who can single handedly take the game away from the opposition.

Meanwhile Indian also have some match winners in their ranks. Opener Smriti Mandhana who took the tournament by storm with back to back 90 and a century hasn’t been among runs in the recent past but will surely gain heart from the fact that her 90 came against the same side and she will definitely look to replicate some of her heroics from the opening match.
