According to Madan Mitra, the Sports Minister of West Bengal, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly would have been the ‘best choice’ to the buyout BCCI president. Supreme Court has taken the present president N Srinivasan to step away in order to preserve a fair probe regarding the match-fixing and betting outrage after going through the Court-conducted Mudgal Committee report.

“Let Sourav Ganguly take over the reigns at the BCCI. He is our all-time best captain and has a fresh picture. He is the best person to take over the BCCI at this fourth dimension,” Mitra said, when he has been asked about the matter that Sunil Gavaskar or a former cricketer should take over the reins at the BCCI.

“All cricket lovers of our state are feeling embarrassed but because that one person, N Srinivasan.” He got disgusted on Srinivasan for not resigning from the BCCI.

“As a sports minister, I demand Srinivasan should immediately step down. At that place should be clean cricket and a young brigade,” he stated.
