Duncan Fletcher who has not taken the Indian team to heights, at least in Test cricket, in his reign has now given way to another great to try and give team India the tag of champions once again. Ravi Shastri who is at present working as the interim director is set to lose the spot to the likes of Ganguly because of Jagmohan Dalmiya who took over N Srinivasan who had a great relation with Shastri.
Dalmiya does not want Shastri to continue because he felt that Shastri is pro-Srinivasan, and reports say that he is keen on bringing Saurav Ganguly into the new role. Ganguly has been a great leader and has been the most successful captain away from home for India and this experience will come in handy felt Dalmiya. He also added that Shastri could not produce the results the board was hoping for and that it will end his tenure.
With India ready to tour Bangladesh for a short tour of one test and 3 ODI’s, these changes are likely to happen before the tour and reports suggested that Ganguly was already given the role of a High Performance Manager a role which has been used by Cricket Australia over the years. Dravid will be the Talent Development Manager and Sachin will help in the National Cricket Academy. It was also said that Shastri may not be making the tour of Bangladesh. How much of these news are true is something we have to wait for.
