The Proteas have named their ODI squad for the upcoming ODI series against England at home. The South Africans have made just one change to the squad which emerged victorious against India away from home. Left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso has been dropped from the ODI unit while batsman Rilee Rossouw returns to the ODI setup after recovering from his injury which ruled him out of the series against India.
The South African selectors also named an unchanged test side for the last two tests against England. This means that pace sensation Vernon Philander has still not recovered from the injury which he sustained in the test series against India. Philander was injured in the due course of the first test against India at Mohali, which the Proteas lost.
“We were highly encouraged by the performance put up by the Proteas at Newlands,” CSA selection convener Linda Zondi said. “The very fact that they were nearly able to force a win after conceding 600 runs on the first innings speaks volumes for the character of this group of players. We feel we have all our bases covered and also the options that will enable the team to exploit whatever conditions they encounter at the Wanderers Stadium and at SuperSport Park.”
