Sports Biopic: Sushant Singh Rajput To Play Paralympian Murlikant Petkar After MS Dhoni

After the major maiden success in sports biopic while portraying as Indian limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput is preparing for another project to play the role of Paralympian Murlikant Petkar.

“The minute I heard his story, I was on. I wanted to do it without a second thought. What an inspiring story! After playing Dhoni, I’m looking forward to playing Petkar, who never allowed his physical hurdles to stand in the way of his dreams. I like playing characters who dream big,” said Sushant quoted as saying by The Asian age.

Sushant, who has the great expectations with the sports biopic, will be training hard in swimming and equally for the combat sports for the movie’s preparations.

The differently-abled Peter has been an all-rounder in sports as he made his career out of swimming after being in the boxing.

It’s interesting that Sushant will get trained at the Bhiwani Boxing Club which has produced one of the modern boxing sensations in the form of Vijender Singh in India.

Petkar, the unknown face for the present generation was former soldier who got injured in the India-Pakistan war in 1965 and has eventually resigned from the army post after irrevocable bullet injuries.

Petkar has represented India in table tennis in 1968 as he reached second round followed by 1972 Paralympics games in Heidelberg, Germany in which he claimed the gold to set glory for India.

Despite his physical disability he continued to perform for the country to set the nation’s flag high while setting the record of 37.33 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle swimming event.

Overwhelming against all odds Petkar, who has been employed by Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO) in Pune has participated in precision javelin throw, javelin and slalom events while having four international medals to his name in swimming.

Sportzwiki has learnt the film is expected hit the big screens in the later part of 2017 which will be directed by Prashant Singh. The biopic has been temporarily titled as “Murli: The Unsung Hero”.

In MS Dhoni biopic, the actor has put in an extra effort with his extensive research to make it a huge success on the big screens and is looking forward to devote his enough time on Petkar which won’t be that easy.
