Kumar Sangakara has been rested for the remaining two One-Day Internationals of the ongoing one day series against India. There are three other players that have been rested. Spinner Suraj Randiv opening batsman Upul Tharanga and pacer Dhammika Prasad are the one who have not been included for the last limited overs games against India.
Batsmen Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal, spinner Ajantha Mendis and pacer Shaminda Eranga have been named as replacements, according to the official website of the Sri Lankan Cricket Board. Although, Thirimanne was picked for the Pakistan ODIs, he did not get a chance to take the field. Rangana Herath is still not in the Team. Sri Lanka have already lost the first 2 ODI’s in the ongoing 5 match series.
Sangakkara is the latest high-profile player to be rested in this series. MS Dhoni, India skipper, has not been selected for the three games. Sangakkara had made a well-crafted 61 in the previous game at Ahmedabad. Sangakara was little unhappy with the sudden decision of The Sri Lankan Board to play a 5 match series against India, which was scheduled because of the West Indies pull out.
The Squad for the last 2 ODI’s is as follows:
Kushal Janith Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lahiru Thirimanne, Mahela Jayawardene, Angelo Mathews(c), Ashan Priyanjan, Thisara Perera, Seekkuge Prasanna, Shaminda Eranga, Ajantha Mendis, Lahiru Gamage, Dinesh Chandimal, Chaturanga de Silva, Nuwan Kulasekara, Niroshan Dickwella
