He might not be playing any more part in the ongoing Test series in Sri Lanka, but fair to say, Ravindra Jadeja has made his contribution to the team in the first two games.
Jadeja was absolutely clinical at Colombo as his exploits with the bat, and later with the ball, helped India seal an innings victory to wrap up the three match series 2-0.
It didn’t come as a surprise when Jadeja was duly named the Man of the Match for his all round brilliance, his first away from home.
However, due to the highly questionable functioning of the ICC’s demerit points, based on the conduct of a cricketer, Jadeja was suspended for the third and final Test, on grounds of breaching a code of conduct. Though uncertainty still looms over what wrong did the all-rounder exactly do, the Indian squad members are far from being disgruntled.
With the series already in India’s arsenal, the visitors are busy soaking in the Sri Lankan sun. Post the second Test, Jadeja climbed on the top of the ladders in the ICC Test All Rounder’s rankings and was ranked at the coveted first spot.
Apart from being the number one all rounder, the Saurashtra southpaw is also the number one bowler in the ICC’s Test Bowler’s Rankings. This is a commendable feat, as topping two different charts is a unique aspect.
Praising Jadeja for his exploits, was his close friend and India teammate, Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai batsman dedicated an Instagram post for Jadeja and praised the all-rounder. Joining him in the praise was Hardik Pandya too, who was in awe of Jadeja. “Great things come from hard work and dedication. The T-shirt certainly shows the work he’s put in,” wrote Rohit.
