Sri Lanka are scheduled to start their World Cup campaign against New Zealand at Christchurch on February 14th itself. They’ll play their remaining pool matches against Australia, England, Scotland, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. They will have to win most of their matches if they have to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Earlier, when Sri Lanka won the 1996 World Cup, members of the squad were rewarded with duty free cars, free houses and land in addition to huge cash awards that poured in from private companies.
