In reply, Pakistan chased that total successfully in 14.5 overs after losing just 1 wicket. Pakistan won the match by 9 wickets with 31 balls to spare.

Despite this T20I victory, Pakistan failed to win the Super Series.

The final points of the Super Series are England = 16 points and Pakistan = 12 points. England wins the Super Series by virtue of being 4 points ahead.

  1. England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler was playing 50th T20I match in his career. Buttler became 4th cricketer to play 50 or more T20Is for England. Apart from Buttler, Eoin Morgan, Stuart Broad and Luke Wright played 50+ T20Is for England.

 

  1. Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed led his side for the first time in T20I. Sarfraz became the first Pakistan wicket-keeper to lead Pakistan in T20I.

 

  1. During Pakistan’s innings in this match, they scored 73 runs (73/0) in the powerplay (0.1-6 overs). It was Pakistan’s highest score in a T20I powerplay history. Pakistan’s previous highest score in a T20I powerplay was 72 runs (72/0) against Zimbabwe at Harare on 16th September 2011.

 

  1. Pakistan opening batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif put on a brilliant 107-runs partnership for the 1st wicket in Pakistan’s innings. It was Pakistan’s 4th highest opening partnership in T20I while it was also Pakistan’s 7th highest T20I partnership for any wicket.

 

  1. Both the Pakistan openers scored half-centuries in this match (Khalid Latif 59*, Sharjeel Khan 59). It was only the 3rd time in T20I history that both the Pakistan openers scored 50+ runs in the same T20I innings.

 

  1. Pakistan won this match by 9 wickets with 31 balls to spare. This was Pakistan’s largest T20I victory (by wickets).

Also, it was Pakistan’s jointly 3rd largest T20I victory (by balls remaining in the second innings).
