Stats: Highest batting averages of players with 100 or more Tests

We all know the astonishing average of Sir Don Bradman in Test cricket. Every child in India learnt from their cricket loving parents the average of Sir Don Bradman is 99.94, almost hundred in every match. Now it is a part of folklore in every country where people love cricket more than any other sport. Bradman made his debut in international cricket in 1928, played 52 matches till 1948. He could play more matches but the outbreak of the Second World War cut short his career. Five years without international Cricket meant Bradman had to sit back at home, literally without cricket as he had to find out a job to run his young family.

He tried to continue this career but weak health did not justify his idea. He was forced to quit international cricket. However, what he could not do his successor from various continent has done that in international cricket – the record of playing 100 and more Tests.  Sir Don Bradman may not had the opportunity of playing  more than 52 Tests, but his batting average in the classical form of the game is untouchable and it will be in the future as well, if something magical does not happen in the game.

So, when one talk about batsmen’s average in Test cricket, Bradman will always be on the top of the chart. But, how do the average of post Bradman era legends look like after playing more than100 Tests? 

These players toiled hard to cement their place in the cricket’s elite club of 100 Tests. They sweated, survived injuries, received criticism midway through their career. However, when their career came at the verge of twilight, cricket fans across the world appreciated them.
